Dhaka Bureau: Emphasizing the marketing of different flavors of tea, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that people’s tastes have changed. The demand for different flavors of tea has increased. He suggested producing different teas through research and marketing them.
He said this at the National Tea Day and National Tea Award 2024 ceremony at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday (June 4).
Sheikh Hasina said that tea is becoming a cash crop. Helping to bring financial prosperity to the people of the country. Research on this should continue. Special emphasis should be given to research.
He said herbal tea, spice tea, tulsi leaf tea, and jasmine tea are available in the market. Instead of just selling tea leaves in bulk, they add value. Then you will get a good price. Tea is also made from jute leaves. This is being researched. Farmers say it is good for diabetics.
Urging the owners to be more caring towards the tea workers, Bangabandhu’s daughter said that if you care about the tea workers, you can get more work from them. You will see various issues, including education and the treatment of their children. The father of the nation gave citizenship to tea workers. They have no home, no land. We’ll make them go crazy. No one will be landless or homeless.
Urging to increase the production of tea to meet the needs of the people of the country, he said that the purchasing power of the people has increased. Chatting in the village tea shop. It makes a storm in a teacup. The king killed the vizier there. Local and foreign people keep various news stories there. And drink tea. I chatted for hours. Because of this, the demand for our tea has also increased. Care should be taken to meet the demand for our own production.
Sheikh Hasina said, Tea is my favorite. I drink tea because the father of the nation was the chairman of the tea board. And especially, the tea workers vote in boats. Many tried many ways, but could not take them to the other side. Their love and sincerity impress me.
Commerce State Minister Ahsanul Islam Titu spoke on the occasion. The Prime Minister presented the National Tea Award to the winners in various categories. He inaugurated the National Tea Fair.
