Correspondent: Voting will be held in Lohagara on Wednesday, June 5, in the fourth phase of the Upazila Parishad elections. Campaigning for candidates in Lohagara ended on Tuesday, June 3. On the last day of campaigning, a big rally was held at Lohagara Battali Motor Station of Upazila Sadar in support of Pineapple symbol candidate Khorshed Alam Chowdhury under the initiative of Upazila Swachhasevak League. Candidate Khorshed Alam Chowdhury along with public representatives and party leaders spoke in the rally. Later a huge procession inspected Lohagara Battali Motor Station. On the other hand, a procession was taken out on the initiative of Abdul Mabud Syed, the candidate for the motorcycle symbol. At the end of the procession, candidates and others addressed the gathering.
It is said that upazila administration and police station administration have taken extensive preparations for free, fair and impartial elections in Lohagara. Magistrate, Bidier, RAB, Police and Ansar VDP members will be engaged for taking votes. The total number of voters in this election in Lohagara is 2 lakh 26 thousand 590 people. Among them, male voters are 1 lakh 21 thousand 5 hundred. 1 lakh 5 thousand 90 female voters. 71 Presiding Officers, 581 Assistant Presiding Officers and 1162 Polling Officers will be engaged for taking votes. In Lohagara Upazila, there are 71 polling stations and 581 polling booths, according to election office sources.
There are 8 candidates in Lohagara Upazila Parishad elections. Among them, 3 chairman posts are Khorshed Alam Chowdhury (pineapple), freedom fighter Abdul Mabud Syed (motorcycle) and Sirajul Islam Chowdhury (horse). Md Sarwar Mamun (glasses), Jamil Uddin (tubewell) and Farhadul Islam (lock) are among the 3 candidates for the post of vice chairman. 2 candidates for the post of reserved (women) vice chairman are Shaheen Akhter (Football) and Jasmine Akhter (Tala).
