Rangamati Correspondent: Police have arrested four accused in the murder case of Barathli Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Atomong Marma No. 4 of Bilaichhari Upazila of Rangamati.
On Monday, June 3, around 1.30 a.m., the police arrested four people from the Shuktara Hotel in Rirjavabjar, Rangamati District.
It is said that the four arrested are accused in the murder case of Barathli Union Parishad Chairman Atomong Marma of Bilaichhari Upazila.
According to the police, four of the eight accused have been arrested. The arrested are Satyachandra Tripura, Saduchandra Tripura, Weaver Tripura, and Sujan Tripura. All of them are residents of the Barathali Union of Bilaichhari Upazila.

They are accused in the murder case of Bilaichhari Upazila Barathali, UP Chairman. The four were produced in court today (Monday).
Incidentally, on the night of the second phase of the Upazila Parishad elections on May 21, Barathli UP Chairman Atomong Marma was staying at a neighbor’s house in his home village of Barathli at eleven o’clock at night when two assailants shot him and fled. Meanwhile, the UP Chairman was injured by gunshots in his hand and leg.
Later, the locals rescued him and took him to the Rumar Upazila Health Complex in Bandarban. From there, he was later sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for better treatment. There, the doctors removed the bullet from his body through surgery. Since then, he has been in the ICU of Chittagong Medical College Hospital on live support. Then he died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital at approximately 11:00 on May 30.
