About 17 thousand workers could not go to Malaysia

Dhaka Bureau: State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury said that 16 thousand 970 workers could not go to Malaysia. He gave this information in a press conference at the meeting room of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment on Sunday (June 2) afternoon.

Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury said that the ministry has approved 5 lakh, 26 thousand, and 676 people till May 31. Out of this, 4 lakh, 93 thousand, and 642 people have been given clearance from BMET. According to the information we have, 4 lakh, 76 thousand, and 672 people have gone to Malaysia so far. Accordingly, more or less 16 thousand 970 people could not go.

He also said that the ministry has formed a six-member investigation committee to investigate the reasons for those who could not go. The inquiry committee will report and make recommendations within seven days. I believe that those who are responsible for this will be punished.

The minister expressed his hope about the opening of Malaysia’s labor shrine soon, saying that the government is working on the matter seriously.

Regarding the syndicate, the minister said that the syndicate has been created because the country that will take manpower wants it. However, the government does not have confidence in the syndicate. The government wants all the agencies to be able to send people.

At that time, the secretary of the ministry, Ruhul Amin, said that approval had been given only to those who had tickets after May 24. No one is allowed outside of this.

Incidentally, Additional Secretary Noor Mohammad Mahbub has been made the head of the inquiry committee. They have been asked to submit their report within the next 7 days, and in light of the findings of the report, disciplinary action will be taken against the culprits, the state minister said.
