Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: 11 pirates listed by the Ministry of Home Affairs are surrendering today (Thursday). According to sources, they are surrendering at a surrender ceremony to the Home Minister in Patenga, Chittagong.
The source also said that a total of 45 pirates from different upazilas will surrender at Thursday’s (May 30) ceremony. The process of getting the pirates off the coast back on track is being done through communication between the pirates who surrendered earlier and a member of a media organization.
Saleh Ahmad, the first pirate who surrendered from the upazila under the government’s special amnesty, said that among the 43 pirates listed by the Ministry of Home Affairs in the first phase, there were 2 from Kutubdia, 9 out of 38 from Banshkhali in the second phase, and 14 out of 96 from Maheshkhali in the last Maheshkhali ceremony, totaling 25 pirates from Qutubdia. Surrendered.
He also said that at least 45 pirates are surrendering to the Home Minister in Chittagong Patenga on Thursday (May 30) with the aim of giving up banditry and returning to normal life. The 11 pirates of Qutubdia will surrender. However, he said that the entire process is under the supervision of RAB.
