Disaster alert: 785 shelters and 295 medical teams are ready in Chittagong

The Crime Desk: Due to the effect of Cyclone Remal in the Bay of Bengal, the sky is cloudy and light, moderately gusty winds have already started in Chittagong city. It is raining.

The Meteorological Office of Chittagong Cox’s Bazar District 09 has been campaigning in various media to show the disaster signal. Meanwhile, in the coastal upazilas of Chittagong, the upazila administration is making the people go to a shelter or safe place for the safety of their lives. Chittagong City Corporation and Chittagong District Administration have started the work of evacuating the people.

According to Chittagong district administration sources, Chittagong has already completed all necessary preparations to deal with Cyclone Remal, and all UNOs have been instructed.

785 shelters in Chittagong, 295 medical teams, and 785 shelters of the Disaster Management Department have been prepared in Chittagong to deal with Cyclone Remal. Besides, 1,400 schools and nine Mujib Forts have been kept ready for use as shelters.

Besides, a total of 295 medical teams have been formed through the Chittagong Civil Surgeon, including 200 at the union level, 5 in each upazila health complex, 9 in urban dispensaries, and 5 in general hospitals. Besides, a control room has been opened in the Chittagong District Commissioner’s office, whose number is 02333357545. This information was given in a virtual meeting organized by the Chittagong district administration at ten o’clock this Sunday morning.

Chittagong District Commissioner Abul Bashar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman instructed all concerned to take maximum preparation. In particular, Sandhip, Anwara, Banshkhali, Mirsrai, Sitakunda, and Karnaphuli upazila executive officers were asked to prepare.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner directed concerned UNOs and Acelands to evacuate people from coastal areas and hilly areas as there is a possibility of flooding due to rain and a full moon in Chittagong under the influence of a cyclone.

Cyclone Preparedness Program CPP’s 8880 volunteers are on high alert. Apart from 5000 Red Crescent volunteers, BNCC and Scout volunteers have been kept ready.
