Satkania Correspondent: Senior journalist of Satkania Upazila, Md. Zaheed Hossain, has been accused of defamation for presenting false, baseless, and fabricated information by holding a press conference. Last Tuesday (May 21), Chittagong Press Club S. Rahman Hall organized a press conference under the banner of brave freedom fighters and children of freedom fighters of Satkania upazila, but behind this conference is Delwar Hossain, alias Mintu, the son of Upazila Kaliaish Union (UP) Parishad Chairman Hafez Ahmad’s son Kishore, gang leader, drug kingpin, murder case accused, and illegal Balukheko in the area. Chairman Hafez Ahmed was also seen present at the press conference.
In the press conference, the speakers made various defamatory statements, calling journalist Zaheed Hossain a greedy woman, a juvenile gang leader, a land robber, a soil trader, and an extortionist. Which has nothing to do with journalist Zaheed’s daily activities.
Not only that, journalist Zaheed has respectable contacts in his personal and family areas. Not only in the Kaliaish area, Zaheed is intimately involved in all the philanthropic activities of the upazila.
Besides, he protested from the front row to stop any illegal activities in the area. As a result, the chairman and his son Mintu, along with some rogue journalists in the area, have been trying to attack Zaheed for a long time. In continuation of this false extortion case against Zaheed and the filing of a case under the Cyber Security Act, this press conference was organized with various false accusations. Which the local society refuses to accept in any way.
In this regard, Nazim Uddin Talukder, a resident of Kaliaish Union, said that Zaheed is an educated journalist. One of his brothers is a senior journalist and journalist leader of Jatiya Dainik, published in Dhaka. Another brother is the principal of a graduate college. Apart from this, Zaheed’s wife is also a government primary school teacher. The first child (daughter) of Zaheed’s two children is preparing to participate in the BCS examination after obtaining a master’s degree from Chittagong University. The other child (a boy) is studying in the Civil Engineering department of the International Islamic University of Chittagong. Relatives are working at various levels of the country.
He also said that journalist Zaheed is known as a protester against injustice in the area. The chairman and his son Zahed are engaged in a vile attempt to defame him by holding press conferences with death threats, extortion cases, and false accusations for protesting injustice and stopping illegal activities. The chairman and his son will never succeed in that. Because the people of the area know that Zaheed is an extortionist or something else.
It is to be noted that the chairman’s son, Delwar Hossain, alias Mintu, is one of the accused in the murder case of local college student Sajjad. He has been leading a youth gang in the area for a long time and is involved in various crimes, including drug use. In addition, his father, in order to become the local chairman, showed thumbs up to the administration and started illegally extracting sand by installing dredger machines in the Sangu River. Satkania, a representative of the Daily Suprabhat newspaper, said this. When Zaheed Hossain noticed, he published news in national and local dailies against illegal sand mining. As a result, Mintu’s illegal sand mining business was stopped. He became enraged by the publication of the news and threatened journalist Zaheed and his family with death threats and verbal abuse.

Zaheed Hossain filed a general diary (GD) at the Satkania police station on April 29, mentioning the names of four people, including Delwar Hossain, alias Mintus, as plaintiff. Later, journalist Md. Separate human chain programs were held under the banner of journalists working in Dohazari Press Club, Lohagara Press Club, and Satkania Upazila to protest the death threats to Zaheed Hossain and demand the arrest of those threatening them.
Journalist in this regard. When asked by Zaheed Hossain, he said, I strongly condemn and protest against the press conference held against me with various false and baseless information. I will take legal action against this soon. I also demand the immediate investigation and arrest of those who threatened to kill me and my family.
