1 killed in election violence in Cox’s Bazar

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: A person named Safoor Alam (35) died after being stabbed in the newly formed Eidgaon upazila election of Cox’s Bazar. The murder took place in the West Pokkhali area of the upazila on Tuesday, May 21.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Eidgaon police station Shubo Ranjan Chakma confirmed the death due to stabbing.

The deceased Safur Alam is the son of Nur Uddin of the West Pokkhali area. He was a worker for telephone symbol candidate Abu Taleb.

OC Shubo Ranjan Chakma said, “There was a scuffle with Safur Alam, a worker of Telephone Prateek, and Masud’s brother Saidul, an agent of Motorcycle Prateek. When Masud learned about the matter, he came out of the polling station, and in a fight with Safur Alam, Safur Alam was stabbed. When he was taken to the Eidgaon Medical Center in a bloody state, the doctor on duty declared him dead.

This police officer said that legal measures are under process in this regard.
