City Reporter: Chittagong Metropolitan Police Commissioner Krishna Pad Roy said that the police are not policymakers; they only try to implement them. In order to maintain law and order in an area, all parties concerned should come forward along with the police.
In recent times, youth gangs have been discussed. The police finally act. That is, the job of the police is to arrest and put them in jail. But before coming to this stage, you have to think about it. If a student is absent from class, their whereabouts should be recorded. At first, the class dodges and gets close to another bad guy. Later, they got involved in bad deeds.
The family has to play an important role in this regard. He said these things during an exchange of views with journalists at the PHP VIP Lounge of the Chittagong Press Club on Tuesday, May 21. Chittagong Press Club President Salahuddin Md. General Secretary of the Press Club Devdulal Bhowmik delivered the welcome address on the occasion under the chairmanship of Raza.
The CMP Commissioner, describing his own past, said, Many of you know my first profession was journalism. If I hadn’t joined the police force, I might still have been a journalist. I was very touched when the people of that profession honored me with honorary membership in the Chittagong Press Club. During my duty as police commissioner in Chittagong, I got the support of various levels of journalists in Chittagong. Chittagong Metropolitan Police has been with journalists in the past, is present, and will be in the future.
He said that if we are committed—we ‘can’t do anything good for anyone but won’t do anything bad’—then we will certainly be able to work for society and for the country. Politics has no place in the Chittagong Metropolitan Police. Everyone should work from their own place. CMP police are always trying to do good work. Even if the police do a good job, there is a tendency to blame it on the police if there is a problem.
In his welcome speech, General Secretary of Chittagong Press Club, Debdulal Bhowmik, said that there is no unrest in Chittagong apart from normal law and order in the police administration since taking charge as Chittagong Metropolitan Police Commissioner.
