Correspondent: In Lohagara, South Chittagong, the cutting of fertile soil (topsoil) cannot be prevented. A class of people are engaged in smuggling by any means. A youth was seriously injured in an attack by a person engaged in the soil trade for cutting soil to prevent smuggling.
This young man confessed to the brutality at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, in Hazarbigha village of the Amirabad union of the upazila. A part of the youth’s head was cut off in the attack. Injured youth Mizan Uddin (32) has been admitted to the Lohagara Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
According to sources, a person involved in the soil trade was cutting soil from the land, loading it in a truck, and smuggling it through the road. As a result, there is a possibility of collapsing of the culvert built on the road. The young Mizan Uddin blocked the public road for fear of being injured.
Enraged by this, two members of the soil trading group attacked the young man. The people of the area got angry after receiving the news of the incident. Relatives of the injured youth said that a case is being filed at the Lohagara police station.
