Own Correspondent: Kalbaisakhi storm has hit Chittagong city and various upazilas of the district. The storm started around 3 p.m. on Monday, May 6. At the time of writing this report around 4:30 PM, the storm had continued. In the afternoon, darkness descended on the city with black clouds. The entire Chittagong became without electricity.
According to the news in various upazilas of the metropolis and the district, around 3 pm, the darkness of the night descended after the sunlight was covered by thick clouds in the entire Chittagong district. Within 10 to 15 minutes, the Kalbaisakhi storm started.
A housewife named Sultana Begum from Phatikchari said that the storm has caused extensive damage. Village trees are uprooted. Many houses were blown away by tin sheds.
Akbar Hossain, a resident of Rangunia upazila, said that the worst calamity has hit. Raw houses are getting damaged a lot.
The Chittagong Fire Service control room informed us that there are reports that the Kalboishakhi storm has hit various upazilas of Chittagong city and district. At various places, houses and trees were uprooted. No casualties have been reported so far. The storm still continues.
