Madaripur Correspondent: Police have arrested a wife for cheating in Kabinnama in Muksudpur of Gopalganj. The woman wrote Tk 14 lakh instead of Tk 4 lakh as dowry in Kabinnama and sued her husband for dowry. He was arrested in the Palta case. Another principal Nikah Register is absconding.
Habiba Sultana (22), daughter of Hayat Sheikh of Pachuria village in Pashargati Union, was arrested by the police on Friday night and sent to court. The other accused in the case are Nikah Register Qazi Maulvi Nizamuddin, Habiba’s mother Achma Begum, and father Anichur Rahman.
According to the details of the case, Arafat Rahman, son of Atiyar Rahman of Fakirhatkhola village of the upazila, married Habiba Sultana, daughter of Hayat Sheikh of Pachuria village of the neighboring Pashargati union, on December 12, 2022. Kazi Maulvi Nizamuddin of Pashargati Union did the marriage registry. At the time of marriage, a dowry of Tk 4 lakh is written in the kabinnama. Later, due to moral pollution in the family, Habiba Sultana made a case of Tk. 14 lakh instead of Tk.
On learning this, Arafat Rahman filed a fraud case against Habiba Sultana and Nizamuddin as the plaintiffs. Taking cognizance of the matter, the court directed the OC of Muksudpur police station to take legal measures, including an investigation. Pashargati UP Chairman Abdur Rahman Mir admitted the truth of the incident.
Ashraful Alam, OC of Muksudpur Police Station, said that the cheating wife, Habiba Sultana, was arrested and sent to court. Police operations are underway to arrest the fraudster, Kazi.
