Anwara Correspondent: A CNG driver named Mohammad Rana (28) died in a head-on collision between a pickup van and a CNG autorickshaw in Anwara, Chittagong. The accident happened near the Sarkarhat Al Amin Community Center of the upazila at around 12 o’clock on Monday (April 29).
It is known that the deceased driver is the son of Abdur Razzak of Shikalbaha ward number two, Masterhat area of Rana Karnaphuli upazila. Besides, three more people are admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital with serious injuries.
According to local sources, around midnight, a pickup van with a banner of MP Latif’s subsidized prices followed him on the main road of the Sarkarhat area of Anwara. Vehicle number: (Chittagong No. 11-8346).
At that time, one of the CNG vehicles climbed on top of the pickup van. The driver of the pickup van saw the matter in the looking glass and braked the car at speed for the safety of the vehicle. Due to this, the driver Rana died on the spot after being hit by a CNG autorickshaw. The pickup van then fled.
Anwara Thana Police rescued the others who were injured and sent them to Chamek Hospital in the night. Among them, another youth named Yasin of Shikalbaha village is said to be in a coma.
In this regard, Anwara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sohail Ahmed said, “One person was killed and several others were injured in a head-on collision between a goods-laden pickup van and a CNG auto-rickshaw. After receiving the news, one body was recovered from the spot and sent to the morgue at night. Removed from CNGT Road. Legal proceedings are under process.’
