Narayanganj Correspondent: District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mahmudul Haque has canceled the candidature of Sonargaon Upazila Women’s Awami League President Advocate Noor Jahan for the post of female vice chairman in the upcoming upazila council elections.
Advocate Noor Jahan, president of the Sonargaon Upazila Mahila Awami League, said in a circular on Monday (April 29) about the cancellation of candidature in the upazila council elections.
He said, despite not taking a loan from any financial institution, my candidature was canceled on the charge of default after the nomination papers of the candidates were scrutinized. An organization called Jeevan Thandhani Samaj Kalyan Sanstha has taken a loan of 1 crore rupees from the Midland Bank Gulshan branch using my name, but I am not related to this organization in any way.
He also said that he will appeal to the high court to get back the candidacy for the post of female vice chairman of Sonargaon Upazila.
Advocate Noor Jahan also said, to District Returning Officer and Mohammad Mahmudul Haque, Executive Director of Life Seeking Social Welfare Organization Mosa: Jahanara Akhter admitted that I (Advocate Noor Jaha) did not take any loan and I have nothing to do with the loan.
Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the organization Mosa, Jahanara Akhter, said that the complaint of Advocate Noor Jahan is not completely true.
At present, Advocate Nurjahan has no affiliation with this organization. But earlier, he was a member of this organization.
