Dhaka Bureau: Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) M Khurshid Hossain said that there is no information about any attack or sabotage in the Pahela Boishakh event. However, RAB’s special commando team is ready to deal with any sabotage or attack. Apart from this, any subversive activities will be prevented through patrolling and surveillance in plain clothes.
On Saturday (April 13), on the occasion of the Pahela Boishakh celebration, he informed the reporters after inspecting the overall security system of Ramna Botmul in the capital.
The Director General of RAB said that all the law enforcement agencies, including RAB, are always alert all over the country, including the capital, so that everyone can celebrate the festival properly. Like every year, RAB has increased its intelligence surveillance across the country around Pahela Baisakh. RAB battalions have beefed up security and patrolling in their respective areas till the end of the New Year celebrations.
RAB Director General said that RAB continues to monitor the cyber world all the time to prevent any kind of rumor or inciting information from spreading in the virtual world. Necessary measures, including mobile courts, will be taken to prevent eve teasing at various venues. If someone is a victim of harassment, inform RAB members. We will take strict legal action. The overall situation is being strictly monitored from the RAB headquarters.
Apart from this, sweeping with petrol will be done in the areas where people go, including TSC Shahbagh, Suhrawardy Udyan, Hatirjheel, Ramna Botmul, and Purbachal 300 feet from the capital, focusing on the New Year celebrations. RAB’s detective team continues to monitor the situation.
