The NAP Expo has to highlight Bangladesh’s success in climate adaptation

Dhaka Bureau: Minister of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change Saber Hossain Chowdhury said that NAP Expo-2024 Bangladesh is being organized to show the people of Bangladesh how to successfully deal with climate change. NAP Expo-2024 Bangladesh will be held on April 22–25 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the conference on April 22. At the Expo, everyone can mutually benefit from various topics related to the adaptation programs of different countries to face the impacts of climate change.

The environment minister said these things in the president’s speech at the meeting held at the Bangladesh Secretariat on the occasion of the preparation of the international conference NAP EXPO-2024 Bangladesh to be held in Dhaka on April 22–25 on Tuesday (April 9).

The Environment Minister said rainwater harvesting, water extraction systems through solar energy in hilly areas, issues related to climate-tolerant seeds and other agricultural activities, various activities of the Delta Plan in support of adaptation activities, cyclone shelters for climate adaptation, construction of roads, culverts, etc. to showcase climate adaptation issues. will be Also, the history, culture, and heritage of Bangladesh will be presented to foreigners. We can also gain experience from the orientation activities displayed at foreign stalls.

The Minister of Environment said that the Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Climate Change, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the and the Department of Economic Relations will demonstrate the climate adaptation of the country in this expo. The local government, the Ministry of Rural Development and Cooperatives, the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, and the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock will have stalls. In addition, various development partners and representatives from 114 countries will participate.

Additional Secretary (Administration) Iqbal Abdullah Harun, Additional Secretary (Paduni) Tapan Kumar Biswas, and Additional Secretary (Environment) Dr. Fahmida Khanam, director general of the Department of Environment. Abdul Hamid and senior officials of the ministry and directorate were present.
