Khulna jute mill fire under control after 6 hours of effort

Khulna Correspondent: The fire at Rupsa Salam Jute Mill in Khulna was brought under control after about 6 hours of efforts. Dumping work is going on now. Assistant Director of Fire Service Farooq Hossain Shikder confirmed the matter on Thursday (April 4) morning.

He said that the fire was brought under control around 11 p.m. on Wednesday. Earlier, on the same day, at around 5:30 p.m., a fire broke out at the same mill in the Zabusa area. On receiving information, 16 units of the fire service and two units of the navy started working to control the fire. The cause of the fire was not immediately available, and no casualties were reported.

Eyewitnesses said that the fire spread quickly due to dry jute. As a result, the fire service members have to rush to put out the fire.

MMA Salam, the owner of Salam Jute Mill, said that about 750 tons of exportable jute products, about 35 thousand maunds of raw jute, and mill machinery were burned in the fire. In all, the amount of loss will exceed 125 crore rupees.

Khulna fire service control room is in charge. Abdul Qadir said a lot of jute was burned in the fire. However, it is not yet known how the fire started.
