Dhaka Bureau: The drug administration department has determined the price of 23 stents or rings used in the treatment of heart disease in the country. In this new price list, the government organization regulating this sector has fixed the minimum price of Tk 20 thousand and the maximum price of Tk 68 thousand according to the type of equipment necessary for the treatment of heart disease. On Tuesday (April 3), the department announced the price reduction.
Directorate Director (Administration) Md. Salah Uddin said it is part of the continuation of increasing and decreasing the price. We have been trying to reduce the cost of stents for a long time. It is in view of this that it has been done. From now on, everyone will sell stents at this price. All the hospitals should maintain this new price list.
In Bangladesh, 26 types of stents made by different countries are used in the treatment of heart disease. These prices have been fixed in the new price list. The prices of three stents were reduced a few months ago and now remain unchanged.
Earlier, when the drug administration fixed the prices of stents in December 2023, a large section of importers withheld supply as they objected to the new prices. The matter went to court. However, after fixing the new price on Tuesday, Wasim Ahmad, Acting President of the Medical Device Importers Association of Bangladesh, said that there was “not much objection” to it.
Determining how much a ring costs
The price of the Polish-made Alex Plus brand has been increased to 60 thousand taka, Alex brand 60 thousand taka, and Abaris brand 60 thousand taka.
The price of the Karoflax ISAR brand in Germany is 53 thousand taka, the Karoflax Isar Neo brand is 55 thousand taka, and the and the Xilimus brand is 58 thousand taka.
Switzerland’s Orsiro brand is priced at 63,000 taka, while Orsiro Mission is priced at 68,000 taka.
The price of the Genos Days brand made in South Korea has been increased to 56 thousand rupees.
Spain’s Evascular Angiolite has been priced at Rs 62,000.
The price of Japan’s Ultimaster has been increased to 66 thousand rupees.
The price of Abluminous Days Plus in the Netherlands is Rs 63,000.
The price of Metaphor brand made in India is Rs 40,000, Evermine Fifty brand is Rs 50,000, Biomime Morph is Rs 50,000, and Biomime is Rs 45,000.
The price of the US Affinity-MS Mini is 60,000 taka, the Direct-Stent Cero is 66,000 taka, and the Direct-Stent is 30,000 taka.
Biometrics Neoflax, made in Singapore, has been priced at Tk 60,000, Biometrics Alpha at Tk 66,000, and Biofreedom at Tk 68,000.
It should be noted that when the blood circulation in the artery is stopped, stents, or coronary stents, are placed through angioplasty to keep the heart functioning normally. It is commonly known as a ring.
