Naogaon Correspondent: Members of the Naogaon-16 BGB Battalion arrested an Awami League leader named Mohsin Mallick (40) along with a heavy stone Vishnu idol weighing 8 kg and 200 grams in Raninagar, Naogaon. BGB said that the estimated value of the statue is about 4 lakh 10 thousand taka.
The arrested Mohsin Mallik is the son of Solaiman Mallick of Shalia village in Baragacha union of Raninagar upazila of the district. He is the former general secretary of the local Baragacha Union Awami League.
This information was provided by BGB in a press release on Sunday (March 24) around 9:00 p.m. Earlier, on the basis of secret information, Mohsin was arrested along with the statue in front of the district stadium located in the Dhaka bus stand area of the city around 2 p.m..
In the press release, it was informed that at noon on this day, the captain of 16 BGB, Lt. A special patrol team led by Colonel Muhammad Sadiqur Rahman, and a task force team consisting of Naogaon Sadar Model Police Station conducted operations in the Dhaka Bus Stand area. When Mohsin Malik tried to escape upon sensing the presence of the patrolling team, the patrolling members arrested him. During the arrest, one rough stone Vishnu idol weighing 8 kg and 200 grams was recovered from him. The estimated price of this is 4 lakh 10 thousand taka. Apart from this, 1 motorcycle, 2 mobile phones, and cash worth Tk 13 thousand 510 were seized. Later, the detained Mohsin Mallick was handed over to the Naogaon Sadar police station on Sunday night to take legal action against him.
Naogaon Sadar Police Station OC Zahidul Islam confirmed the matter and said that Mohsin Mallik, who was arrested on Monday morning, was sent to jail through the court.
