Dhaka Bureau: Suddenly, the Baisakhi storm started in Dhaka yesterday. The storm started on Saturday (March 23) at 2:30 a.m. It lasts about 30 minutes. Heavy hail is also seen with the storm. It is the third storm in the Chaitra month of the Bengali calendar.
With the storm, it rained intermittently in different parts of the capital. A light wind has also flown with it. It feels cold.
Earlier in the forecast at 6 p.m. on Saturday, the Department of Meteorology said that there may be stormy winds and rain with thunder in some places in the Dhaka, Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions at night. Day and night temperatures across the country may increase by 1-2 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Office, the maximum speed is 60–80 km per hour during the night in some regions of the country. Showers with gusty winds or thundershowers are possible.
The river ports in these areas have been asked to display naval warning signal number 2.
Teknaf and Mongla recorded the highest temperature in the country at 33.8 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Besides, 20 mm of rainfall has been recorded in Rajarhat in the last 24 hours.
