Judgment of the case of 18 people, including Tanveer-Jasmin, today

Dhaka Bureau: Hallmark Managing Director (MD), Md. The verdict against 18 people, including Tanveer Mahmood and his wife Jasmine Islam, is scheduled for today. Judge of Dhaka Special Judge Court-1. Abul Kashem will announce the verdict.

On March 12, the judge of Dhaka Special Judge Court-1, Abul Kashem, after presenting the arguments of the state and the accused, fixed today for the pronouncement of the verdict.

Earlier on January 28, the judge of Dhaka Special Judge Court-1. After presenting the arguments of the state and the accused, Abul Kashem fixed February 28 as the date for pronouncing the verdict. On this day (February 28), the verdict of the case was fixed. On this day, ACC lawyer Mir Ahmed Salam applied for the testimony of two magistrates after removing the case from judgment. The court allowed the ACC’s application. The court then fixed March 4 for hearing the case. On this day (March 4), two Metropolitan Magistrates, Dhaka Saifur Rahman and Keshab Roy Chowdhury, testified in court. After their testimony, they set March 12 as the day to present their arguments. On March 12, after presenting the arguments of the state and the accused, today was fixed for the announcement of the verdict.

According to the sources of the case, the documents show that yarn worth Tk 525 crore, 62 lakh, 92 thousand,800 was exported in the name of yarn export as bogus Max Spinning Mills. As such, when the entire amount was deposited, 16 crore and 50 lakh rupees were transferred to another fake company of Hallmark, Apparel Enterprise, which was later withdrawn by Tanveer and his wife. On October 4, 2012, the ACC filed a case against the accused in the Ramna police station of the capital on charges of fraud, forgery, money embezzlement, abuse of power in collusion with each other, misuse of money, and smuggling. On March 27, 2016, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Kamrul Hossain Molla framed the case and ordered its transfer to Dhaka Special Judge Court 1.

The defendants in this case are the managing director (MD) of Hallmark. Tanveer Mahmood, his wife and Group Chairman Jasmine Islam, Tanveer’s brother, and Group General Manager Tushar Ahmed.

Taslim Hasan, director of T & Brothers, Mir Zakaria, owner of Max Spinning Mills, Saiful Islam Raja, MD of Paragon Group, Naqshi Knit MD. Abdul Malek, and the chairman of Tentuljhora Union Parishad (UP) of Hemayetpur in Savar. Jamal Uddin Sarkar.

Besides Sonali Bank Hotel Sheraton or Rupsi Bangla Branch Assistant Deputy General Manager Md. Saiful Hasan, Executive Officer Abdul Matin, and Sonali Bank Dhanmondi Branch Senior Executive Officer Meherunnessa Mary, GM Nani Gopal Nath and Mir Mohidur Rahman of the GM office of the Sonali Bank head office, former managing director of the head office Humayun Kabir, DMD Mainul Haque, Deputy General Manager (DGM) Sheikh Altaf Hossain and Safizuddin, and AGM Md. Kamrul Hossain Khan. Among them, accused Jamal Uddin Sarkar and Altaf Hossain are on bail. Apart from this, Saiful, Matin, Humayun, Gopal Nath, Taslim, Saiful, Mary, and Zakaria are absconding.
