Dhaka Bureau: On National Children’s Day, the children on the Metrorail got excited. Wearing red t-shirts and blue caps, they traveled from Motijheel metro station to Uttara station in the capital. At this time, the children expressed their enthusiasm through the slogan for Bangabandhu’s birthday.

On the occasion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s 104th birth anniversary and National Children’s Day at 11 o’clock on Sunday (March 17), 50 street children were given the opportunity to travel by Metrorail under the initiative of the Road Transport and Highways Department.

A total of 50 children, including 30 children from Katha Kala Kendra, an organization working with street children, and 20 other street children of the city, participated in this joyous trip.

It can be seen on the surface that the children started shouting after getting on the metro rail. They rejoice with each other.

Niloy, a 7-year-old underprivileged child from Manda, said that he had never boarded a train before. I am very happy to get on the train today.

Samia, another underprivileged child, says today is the birthday of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. So we, three girlfriends from a neighborhood, came here. I saw the metrorail from below but never got on it.

Ivan Ahmed, the founder of Katha Kala Kendra, told Katha media that underprivileged children can spend at least one day happily, so I have brought them. These children have never boarded the Metrorail. On this day, they will know about Bangabandhu. Be aware of their rights.

Deputy Secretary of Road Transport and Highways Department (Connectivity Branch) Abu Nachher told the media that, like last time, we have organized metro rail travel for underprivileged children on the occasion of Children’s Day. Accordingly, more than 50 underprivileged children have been made to travel by metro rail. The children will now be taken by bus to Motijheel, where their food will be distributed.

Road Transport and Highways Department Secretary ABM Aminullah Noori, Metrorail MD MN Siddique, and other officials were present.
