Blockade and massive traffic jam in Gabtali after the death of a cleaner in an accident

Dhaka Bureau: Locals are protesting by blocking the main road of Gabtali in connection with the death of a city corporation cleaner in a road accident in Gabtali of the capital. Due to the protest, traffic on that road was stopped. Office goers have suffered.

According to the police, 50-year-old Ayesha Akhter died after being hit by a car in front of Gabtali City Colony around 5 a.m. on Thursday (March 14). When this news spread, people started protesting in the streets.

Meanwhile, due to the blockade, no vehicle could enter the capital through Gabtali from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. As the important road was closed for a long time, the traffic jam reached Asadgate.

SI Monir Hossain, duty officer of Darus Salam police station, told the media that senior officers were on the spot in the incident. The situation has not calmed down yet. The policemen are trying to convince the angry people to remove them from the road.
