Faridpur representative: Market monitoring and awareness activities have been conducted by the district administration to keep the prices of various products at a reasonable level during Ramadan in Faridpur. During this time, school students took part in the awareness program by carrying various petition placards saying, ‘Dear Uncle, please don’t increase the price; we are suffering’ for the businessmen.
On Monday, March 11, at noon, this operation was conducted in the city’s Chowkbazar area and surrounding markets. Meanwhile, various traders and business organizations were warned about the manipulation of product prices.
The placards held by the students also read, ‘Uncle, my father finds it difficult to provide money for your extra profit’, Uncle, don’t spoil our Eid by increasing the price of clothes’, ‘Businessmen are our relatives; we want to live well.’
The monitoring team of the district administration verified the prices and price lists of the products in various shops, footpaths, and shopping malls, including New Market, Chowkbazar Fall Patti, Mudi Bazaar, Kapapatti, and Thana Road in the city. They also requested not to charge extra prices from the buyers on the occasion of Ramadan and Eid. Deputy Commissioner of Faridpur, Kamrul Ahsan Talukder, said that today, Monday, we checked the price of the products with the market monitoring team. The mobile court will be conducted by the executive magistrate starting tomorrow. Strict action will be taken against traders who overcharge the prices of goods during Ramadan. Besides, pavement squatters will be evicted.
The District Consumer Rights Protection Directorate, Agricultural Marketing Officer, and policemen from various levels of the district administration were present.
