Uttara raw market fire under control

Dhaka Bureau: The fire in the raw market next to Zamzam Tower in Uttara Sector 11 of the capital has been brought under control. The fire service told the media that the fire is now fully extinguished. The fire broke out at around 2.10 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, and spread widely within minutes.

However, the fire can be controlled within an hour due to the efforts of the fire service personnel. But before that, several shops were burned to ashes.

Eyewitnesses said that apart from the raw market, there were carpet and furniture shops. Which were burned within moments of the fire.

Fire service duty officer Rakib Hasan confirmed the information about the fire and said, “Firemen quickly rushed to the spot after receiving the news. 10 units worked there to control the fire. Their efforts brought the big fire under control. However, small fires or smoldering fires continue to burn even after 3 a.m. Then an attempt was made to bring those fires under control.

The shopkeepers rushed there on the news of the fire. They risked their lives to try to retrieve the goods. But they could not find out much.

A shopkeeper said that he was sleeping at home at night. He quickly rushed to the spot after receiving news of the fire.

Another witness said that they first saw a small fire in the raw market. But it gets bigger in 10 to 15 minutes. Then everything started to burn. A shopkeeper was seen screaming at the scene. Another furniture shopkeeper claimed that his goods worth Tk 2 million were burned. I couldn’t save anything in the store.
