City Reporter: Everyone should come forward to build Bangabandhu’s dream smart Bangladesh in 2041 with their own skills and knowledge by changing their mentality. The current government has created equal opportunities for men and women everywhere. Deputy Director (Local Government) Lutfun Nahar said that the country is progressing fast because there is equality between men and women.

He said these things in the Chief Guest’s speech at the International Women’s Day discussion meeting organized by the District Administration and Women’s Affairs Department at the Chittagong Circuit House conference room on Friday (March 8) at 10:30 a.m..

He also said that the desired development of the country is not possible without the empowerment of women. The Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of the current government, the privileged daughter of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is a successful woman. As she is working relentlessly for the development of women’s society along with men, senior women officers, from women’s secretary to divisional commissioner (DC-SP), UNO-magistrate (OC), and other places, are signing their qualifications.

This year’s theme of the day is ‘Equal rights of women, equal opportunities; let’s invest to advance’. A colorful procession was taken out of Circuit House under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rakib Hasan on the occasion of International Women’s Day before the discussion meeting. The procession circumambulates the main thoroughfare. Donation checks were distributed in the hands of representatives of 17 voluntary organizations aimed at women’s welfare.

Senior Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Panna Akhter was the special guest in the meeting presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rakib Hasan and moderated by Assistant Director of Women Affairs Department Dilruba Begum. Madhavi Barua, Deputy Director of the Chittagong Women’s Affairs Department, gave the welcome speech.

Among others, women leaders and social activists Jasmine Sultana Paru, Abida Azad, World Vision official Johnny Rosario, BRAC coordinator Enamul Hasan, and others spoke.
