They were passengers on a flight from Sharjah on Saturday (March 2) morning. Detained. Shafiqul Islam Patia Upazila of Chittagong and Md. Morshed are residents of Hathazari Upazila.
Group Captain Taslim Ahmed, director of Shah Amanat International Airport, confirmed the recovery of the gold and said that two people from Sharjah were found to have gold in their luggage when they crossed the customs area of the airport. Later, their luggage was searched, and a total of 1 kg and 114 grams of gold hidden inside two blending machines were recovered. Later, these two passengers were arrested. The estimated value of the recovered gold is Rs 1 crore, according to customs officials.
