Rangamati correspondent: A UPDF member named Nipun Chakma Choga (35) was shot dead in Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati. The incident took place on Saturday (February 24) around 10 p.m. in the Bodhipur area of Bengali Union.

The deceased Nippun Chakma is the son of Kamala Kanti Chakma of Balukhali village. In protest of this murder, UPDF has called for a road blockade in Baghaichhari upazila on Sunday (February 25).

It is known that a program is going on in the Bodhipur area. While some UPDF members were standing there talking, two terrorists came on a motorcycle, shot him, and fled. Nipun Chakma died on the spot. The UPDF blamed JSS (MN Larma) for the murder. However, the JSS MN Larma group denied responsibility for this murder.

Upazila president of JSS (MN Larma), Gnanjeev Chakma, said that their party is not involved in this murder in any way. This is an internal conflict at UPDF.

Abdul Awal, Circle Officer of Baghaichhari Police Station and Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police of Rangamati, said that the policemen led by Baghaichhari Police Station OC Ishtiaq Ahmed went to the spot after receiving the news of the murder. As the area is remote and it is night, the body has not yet been recovered.
