Dhaka Bureau: Bangladesh and Turkey will work together to prevent global disinformation and misinformation, said Mohammad Ali Arafat, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting of the Government of Bangladesh.
This was stated by the State Minister after a bilateral meeting with the President of the Directorate of Communication of Turkey, Prof. Fahrettin Altun, before the special session of the Information Ministers of the Islamic Conference of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, Turkey, on Saturday at noon local time.
In the meeting, the state minister also said that the spreading of false and misleading information is being noticed all over the world. Sometimes they are spread on purpose. Like other countries in the world, Bangladesh is also a negative victim. Countering disinformation and misinformation is therefore now a global challenge. In this case, an area of joint cooperation between Bangladesh and Turkey can be created. Both countries can work together on mutual cooperation, including the exchange of information and experience and technical assistance.
Bangladesh’s Minister of State for Information also said that the world has rarely seen the continuous spread of misleading information in Gaza, Palestine. To combat this type of disinformation, a concerted effort is needed to build resistance.
The President of Turkey’s Directorate of Communication, Prof. Fahrettin Altun, assured the State Minister of Information of Bangladesh that Bangladesh and Turkey will work together against disinformation and misinformation in the bilateral meeting.
