Brahmanbaria representative: ‘Don’t save me; it’s very cold here; save me’ – this is how the expatriate’s wife pleads to save her life. Khadija Akhter Maina (25), wife of a missing expatriate, went missing from her in-laws’ house on January 19, from Kanchanpur village of Singharbil union of Vijayanagar upazila of Brahmanbaria. Almost a month has passed, but there is no trace of him.
It has been reported that the expatriate population of Saudi Arabia lives in the village of Maina Kanchanpur. Wife of Russell Mia. She is the daughter of Salim Mia of Chhatarpur village in the Bishnupur union of the same upazila. After the disappearance, the family members searched many places, including relatives’ houses, but could not find Maina’s body. Maina has a five-year-old daughter.
Meanwhile, about 15 days after she went missing, a voice recording was sent to Maina’s expatriate husband’s IMO number. Where Maina can be heard saying in a bitter tone, ‘How can you forget me? Won’t you save me? I can’t tell where I am; mountains and cold are all around. Amma (my mother-in-law) and Apa (my husband’s younger sister) know where I am. My mobile puppy knows where you are. You talk to Poppy Appa. It’s very cold here. I will die if I stay here.’
After receiving this voice from abroad, husband Russell sent it to Mia Maina’s father’s house. He suggested taking legal action. Later, Maina’s mother, Sumi Begum, filed a general diary at the Vijaynagar police station on February 13 as a plaintiff.
In this regard, Maina’s mother, Sumi Begum, said that a GD has been made at the police station in search of the girl. After doing GD, Maina’s in-laws and family ran away. This proves that they have lost Maina. I want my daughter back. The culprits involved should be punished accordingly.
Hasan Jamil, OC (investigation) of Vijaynagar Police Station, said GD has been accepted. Efforts are on to rescue the victim.
