A victim named Koli Dutta has fallen under the grip of this chain-pulling group. On February 8, when he went out for his daily work, he came to the road under the foot bridge under the station road under Kotwali police station in the city. Some members of the Chaintana group showed fear and snatched the gold chain with a locket worn around Koli Dutt’s neck and ran away.
After receiving the complaint of the incident, a smart team of Kotwali police station conducted an operation in Kotwali, Bandar, and EPZ police station areas of Chittagong city on February 11 (Sunday) and arrested the members of chainsaw group Md. Shaon Faraji (27), Md. Johnny (26) and Md. Belal Hossain (26). At this time, the looted gold chain was recovered in torn condition. The weight of the chain is 06 annas, 05 ratti, and 07 points.
Kotwali Police Station OC SM Obaidul Haque said that they were arrested after conducting raids at various places. Legal action has been taken against those arrested. There are 10 cases against the said accused No. 1 in various police stations, including Kotwali police station in the city, 09 cases against accused No. 2, and 01 case against accused No. 3.
