Dhaka Bureau: The moon of the holy month of Shaban of 1445 Hijri was seen in the sky of the country. Counting of the month of Shaban will start from tomorrow Monday. As such, next 25th February will be Shabba Barat.

This decision was taken at the meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the meeting room of the Islamic Foundation in Baytul Mukarram on Sunday (February 11). This information is known from meeting sources.

The night before the 14th day of the month of Shaban of the Hijri year is a lucky day for the Muslim Ummah. It is believed that the Great Rabbul Alamin decides the fate of his servants on this night. On this night, the worshipers perform Nafal Namaz, recitation of the Qur’an, Zikir-Ajgar, etc. in the hope of getting the mercy and closeness of Almighty Allah.

Although there are differences among scholars and religious thinkers regarding the observance of this Shabbat, it has been celebrated in Bangladesh since the end of the 19th century. In only one ‘Hasan’ Hadith it is called ‘Lailatun Nisfi Min Shaban’. This night is also called Lailatul Barayat. Muhaqqi scholars and experts in Islam believe that there is no special order of worship on this night.

Only in some countries including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Iran, the prevalence of Shabbat can be observed. Shabbat does not exist in Saudi Arabia. In Iran, Shabbat is celebrated as the birthday of Hazrat Imam Mahdi, the twelfth Imam of the Shia sect. On this night, lights are decorated and special celebrations are organized all over Iran.

There is no hadith about Lailatun Nisfi min Shaban in Bukhari and Muslim Sharif, the purest book in the world of hadith. However, there are several hadiths about this in other books of Sihah Sitta. As mentioned in Hadith number 1388 of Ibn Majah, the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, When the mid-Shaban dawn comes, you should stand at night and fast during the day. Because, after sunset on that day, Almighty Allah descended in the sky of the world and said, Is there anyone who asks for forgiveness? I will forgive him. Are there any resource seekers? I will provide him sustenance. Are there any distressed persons? I will free him. In this way, Sadiq continued till dawn. According to the Imams of hadith, this hadith is very weak.

But Bukhari and Muslim came to Sharif, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam said, Our Lord descends in the last third of every night in the sky of the world and says, Is there anyone who calls me? I will answer his call. Do I have someone to ask? I will give it to him. Do I have anyone to apologize to? I will forgive him.
