Madaripur Correspondent: In Madaripur, it has been alleged that hundreds of families have become destitute due to the clutches of an Adam Dalal named Khokon Chokdar. He disappeared with several crores of rupees from more than a hundred youths from 30–35 villages in the district. In addition to protesting and human chaining in this incident, the victims are not getting money even by repeatedly protesting to the administration.

Allegations have been made that, despite multiple cases, the accused Khokon is out of touch for unknown reasons. The police say that an operation is underway to catch the fraudster.

It is known on the ground that Khokon Chokdar took 7 lakh taka from Al-Amin Khan, son of Motaleb Khan of Madra village in Madaripur Sadar Upazila, to send abroad.

Rubel Howladar and Imran Khan of that village also took 7 lakh rupees. Although it was supposed to be taken abroad within two months, no one could go even after two and a half years.

Not just Al-Amin, Imran, and Rubel. Khokon disappeared with hundreds of crores of rupees from such people. Prior to that, these issues were arbitrated locally but not resolved.

According to the victims, they sold the cattle, mortgaged the land, took the money with interest, and gave it to Khokon. At that time, Khokon gave blank checks from different banks to everyone to gain trust. But he doesn’t have any bank accounts. If you can’t take it abroad, if you want to return the owed money, you start arguing. At one stage, he disappeared with crores of rupees.

A victim named Al-Amin said, “I didn’t take it abroad, and I didn’t even return the 7 lakh rupees owed to me.” I have given you money as a loan. I am in a lot of trouble now.

Victim: Mainul Hossain Sujan said, I give money to Khokon Chokdar to go abroad. But he is not taking it abroad. I had many dreams to go abroad and bring back the wealth of the family. But that’s not happening anymore. The little broker had honey in his mouth and poison in his heart. More than a hundred of us have been trapped by the words of this impostor. We want the money owed back, as well as justice for the cheating Khokon.

Superintendent of Police. Kamrul Islam said Khokon cheated helpless people by talking about taking them abroad. According to the victims, he went missing with several crores of rupees. An operation is underway to nab the accused.

Meanwhile, Khokon went to Chokdar’s house to inquire about the complaint but could not find him. Calling his cell phone also found it switched off.
