Dhaka Bureau: Heads of state and government in 48 countries have sent congratulatory messages to Sheikh Hasina as the Prime Minister of the new government as of January 28, as she was elected in the 12th National Parliament elections. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this in response to a question by Member of Parliament for Bhola-2 Ali Azam during the question and answer session in the National Parliament on Wednesday (February 7).
He also said that, besides, representatives of 25 international organizations, governments, and non-governmental organizations have congratulated Bangladesh for conducting fair and participatory elections.
The Prime Minister said that 126 observers from 41 countries around the world came to Bangladesh to observe the 12th National Parliament election. 45 people and 79 independent foreign observers participated in the election as observers from the government and various international organizations. Besides, 18 election commissioners and their representatives from different countries were invited. They observe the election. 20 thousand 773 foreign observers from 84 organizations registered with the Election Commission observed the election.
The Prime Minister also said that 1,534 candidates from 28 registered political parties and 436 independent candidates participated in the elections on January 7 in 299 constituencies.
