Patuakhali Correspondent: A day after the wedding in Mohipur, Patuakhali, the police recovered the strangled body of a young man named Omar Ali (24).
The dead body was recovered from a pepper field near his house in Taherpur village of Latachapali union on Tuesday at 9 a.m. The deceased Omar is the son of Shahjahan Farazi of that area.
According to Mahipur police station and local sources, last Sunday, Rukaiya (18), daughter of Shah Alam of Tajepara village of the same union, got married to Omar Ali. Ruqaiya was brought to Omar Ali’s house along with her family members after the wedding ceremony at the bride’s house yesterday. Umar left the house in the early morning to pray. After that, around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, locals found his dead body in the pepper field and informed the police.
Bride Ruqaiya (18) said that after the Fajr call, we both went to the pond to perform ablution. I returned home when he went to the mosque to pray. Later, I heard the news of death around 7 o’clock.
Shahjahan Faraji, the father of deceased Omar Ali, said, I went to the mosque after seeing my son and wife at the pond at dawn. After coming back after the congregation, I saw the boy lying bleeding in the pepper field.
Mahipur Police Station OC Anwar Hossain Talukder said that a domestic gun was recovered from the scene. The matter is under investigation.
