Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered to reduce the duty rates on edible oil, sugar, dates, and rice on the occasion of the upcoming Ramadan. He gave this order at the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday (January 29).
Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain told reporters after the meeting.
The Prime Minister said that the supply of these products should not be reduced during Ramadan.
It is known that the supply of consumer goods has increased around Ramadan in Khatunganj, the country’s largest wholesale market. As the supply increased, the prices of chickpeas, lentils, and masala products, including motor, decreased. However, the price of mugdal has increased.
Chittagong seaport plant control center information says that 1 lakh 39 thousand 227 metric tons have been imported in the last 6 months. Dates have been imported at 44 thousand 634 metric tons.
