Recycling plastic waste is essential to reducing the harmful effects of plastic

Dhaka Bureau: Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said that it is necessary to recycle plastic waste to reduce the harmful effects of plastic on the environment. He said industrial entrepreneurs should come forward to produce new products through recycling. The use of plastic is increasing day by day all over the world. As demand increases, new products are coming onto the market. Our industry has built a good reputation in domestic and international markets.

The Minister of Industry said these things while inaugurating the International Plastics Fair at the Bashundhara International Convention Center in the capital today, organized jointly by the Bangladesh Plastic Products Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BPGMEA) and Yorkers Trade and Marketing Services Company Limited. Under the chairmanship of Bangladesh Plastic Products Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BPGMEA) President Shamim Ahmed, State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu MP, Additional Secretary and Project Director of the Ministry of Commerce Md. Mansurul Alam, and World Bank Bangladesh Senior Private Sector Specialist Husna Ferdous Sumi were present as special guests. was present

Mentioning that the plastic industry is making a great contribution to the economy, the Minister of Industry said that, in keeping with the current market situation, everyone must work together to create a digital Bangladesh by increasing the production and export of new and improved products through diversification of products. He said that our goal is to achieve the SDGs by 2030 and to build a developed Bangladesh by 2041, as announced by the Prime Minister.

It is to be noted that 654 local and foreign companies producing and supplying machinery, molds, and raw materials for the country’s plastic sector are participating in the 16th International Plastic Fair for four days. Among them were 800 stalls of 600 companies from 20 countries and 161 stalls of 54 domestic companies. The fair will run from January 24-27.
