Kurigram representative: Kurigram has been devastated by the Magh winter. A moderately cold current is flowing as the temperature drops. Normal life is being disrupted due to heavy fog and winter. The minimum temperature recorded in the district on Tuesday (January 23) was 7.5 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature on Monday (January 22) was 8.4 degrees Celsius. That is, the temperature has decreased by about 1 degree Celsius in a day.
Meanwhile, the laboring people of the district are going out to work, ignoring the cold in Konkan, in pursuit of a livelihood. As the temperature drops, the people of the Char area of 16 rivers, including Brahmaputra, Dharla, Teesta, and Dudhkumar, are in trouble.
On the other hand, the number of cold-related patients, including those with diarrhea, pneumonia, respiratory problems, and colds, has increased in the hospitals of the district due to the increase in colds. About 60 patients are receiving treatment on 12 beds in the diarrhea ward of Kurigram General Hospital. About 90 patients are receiving treatment on 44 beds in the children’s ward. As the temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius, 2000 secondary and primary educational institutions in the district have been closed since last Thursday.
Locals say that it has been very cold for some time. Low-income people’s income has decreased due to the cold weather.
Subal Chandra Sarkar, officer-in-charge of the Rajarhat Agricultural Meteorological Office of Kurigram, said that the temperature in the district is likely to remain like this throughout the month of January. However, after 25 days, the temperature may increase slightly.
It should be noted that if the minimum temperature of a region is between 10 and 8 degrees Celsius, a mildly cold current flows there. And if the minimum temperature is 8–6 degrees Celsius, it is called a moderate cold current.
