Pestilence has occurred when eating potatoes. The number of cold patients is increasing in hospitals.

The people of Syedpur have been ground in the fog with severe winter. Due to the non-distribution of winter clothing by the government and private sector, needy and helpless people are in trouble. Lokman Hakim, officer-in-charge of the Sayedpur Meteorological Office, said that a mild cold current is currently blowing in Sayedpur. Due to thick fog on the surface of the sky, the heat of the sun does not reach the surface completely. That’s why it feels more cold. Light to moderate rain is likely by the end of this week. If it rains, the temperature may drop further, he said.

The sun could not be seen in Sirajganj on Sunday due to dense fog. Along with this, the working people of Sirajganj have been crushed by a severe winter in the first part of the month of Magh. The working life of low-income people seems to have come to a standstill. Construction workers Alauddin, Hakim, Shahidul, and many others said, I came to work because of my stomach. But after stirring the water, the hands and feet have become crooked in the winter. Still working hard.

The intensity of fog has increased due to high pressure in the weather. Cold and fog may persist throughout January. The entire district, including Chalanbil, is covered in thick fog. The severe winter in Magh is disrupting the normal life of coastal areas, including Paikgacha. Cold diseases are increasing. Due to the fog, there is some damage to potato, betel nut, and boro seedbeds. Agriculture officer Asim Kumar Das said that Boro wheat seedlings planted in thick fog are not able to produce food due to a lack of sunlight. Due to this, the plant is turning yellow.

In Naogaon’s Badalgachi, the hard-working common people are fed up with the thick fog and frosty air. The temperature increases a little in the afternoon, but in the evening, the bitter cold starts. Many people, including Belal, Najibar, and Azahar of Jalalpur village in Mathurapur UP upazila, said that we are not able to work due to the extreme cold. Winter has made it difficult to leave the house.

Due to excessive cold, late blight disease has occurred in Jaipurhat, the country’s largest potato-producing district. Farmers fear that the yield will decrease. Acknowledging the disease in potatoes, Rahela Parveen, deputy director of the District Agriculture Extension Department, said that a type of late blight has appeared in potatoes due to adverse weather conditions, especially excessive cold.

Boro Bijtala of Phulbari Upazila in Dinajpur suffered from a cold injury due to continuous cold. Farmers in the region are worried as the seed bed turns pale before the planting season. Upazila Agriculture Officer Rumman Akhter said, due to the mild winter, yellowing of seeds has occurred sporadically in some places. To protect the seed beds, the agriculture department recommends covering the seed beds with polythene. There will be no shortage of boro fodder if there is no more winter.
