The incident took place on Thursday (January 19) around 10:30 p.m. in the Billapara area of the Shikalbaha Union of Karnaphuli police station.
The absconding six accused are Omar Farooq (23), son of Farid Ahmed of Ward No. 2 Shikalbaha, and the son of deceased Sultan Majhi of Ward No. 3. Soleman (23), Razzak’s son. Raju (24), Mamun’s son Sakman (20), Nurul Amin’s son Zobaid (23), and deceased Sheikh Ahmed Md. Son Asif (23).
It is known that the young woman came to Chittagong from Pekua at Karnaphuli police station at around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
At this time, Md. He met a Mahindra driver named Shaukat. The victim asked Shaukat to find her a home, expressing her interest in a garment job. The Mahindra driver called his girlfriend, Bilqish Akhter, and a friend named Eamon at the Myjjartek intersection to find a house.
Later, along with the victim, they started looking for a home in the Shikalbaha area of Karnaphuli on foot in the evening. At around 10:30 in the night, when they reached the junction of three roads in the Billapara area of Shikalbaha Union, the accused beat the others and forcibly took the victim in an autorickshaw behind a nearby school. There, they raped in the open field.
A person named Bilkis, who was with the young victim, went to the intersection and reported the matter to the police. They immediately raided the spot, rescued the victim, and arrested the rapist, Akash.
The attention of the prosecution and police administration has been drawn to complete all the legal processes, including the arrest of the rest of the accused, medical examination of the victim, seizure of evidence, remand, and recording of confessions in accordance with the law.
