Dhaka Bureau: Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader have confirmed the start of subway work in September.
He disclosed the information during a briefing in Diabari, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday morning (January 20).
Obaidul Quader said, “The Prime Minister inaugurated the section of MRT Line-6 from Uttara North to Agargaon on December 28, 2022. In continuation of this, Metrorail will run from Uttara to Motijheel every day except Friday from 7:10 a.m. to 8:40 p.m.

He also said, “The authorities will decide whether to extend the time of the metro rail during the Ijtema; the same decision will be made in the case of the book fair.”
The general secretary of the Awami League said that the feasibility of extending the line of metro rail from Uttara to Tongi is being checked. “The feasibility of extending the line of metro rail from Uttara to Tongi is going on.”
The bridge minister said, “Subway work can be started in September.” Also in November, the work on the flying part of MRT Line 5 will start.
Before the briefing, the Road Transport and Bridges Minister inaugurated the ‘Bangabandhu Corner’ of the administrative building inside DMTCL MRT Line 6.
