Mild winter: closed all educational institutions in Kurigram

Kurigram representative: A gentle, cold stream is flowing over Kurigram. Due to this, all primary and secondary schools in the district have been declared closed.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saidul Arif confirmed RisingBD at around 11 a.m. on Thursday (January 18). Earlier, the lowest temperature in the district was recorded at 9 degrees Celsius at 9 a.m.

District primary education officer. Navez Uddin said a gentle, cold current is flowing over Kurigram. As a result, all primary educational institutions have been declared closed. The school will open when the temperature rises above 10 degrees.

District Secondary Education Officer Shamchul Aram said that the schools have been closed until further instructions after learning about the mild cold.

According to the news in various educational institutions in the district, classes were going on from 8 a.m. When the school was declared closed at a quarter past 11, the principal of the school gave leave to the students.

Acting Head Teacher of Kurigram Government High School for Girls, Sheikh Md. Abdul Mannan, said, I started teaching as usual because I did not get the instruction to close the school. After receiving the letter around 11:15 a.m., the school holiday was announced.

Subal Chandra Sarkar, Officer-in-Charge of Kurigram’s Rajarhat Meteorological Office, said the lowest temperature recorded in the district today was 9 degrees Celsius. Such a temperature may continue for another day or two.
