Jamalpur Correspondent: In Jamalpur’s Islampur upazila, there have been incidents of clashes between two villages with sticks and country weapons. Locals say this clash is election revenge.

And the local administration says that the clash was being prepared due to previous enmity.

The incident took place in Agrakhali and Akand Para areas of the Charputimari Union of the Upazila on Wednesday (January 17). However, no casualties were reported in the incident.

According to local sources, on January 7, on the day of the 12th National Assembly elections, there was an argument between the supporters of the boat and scissors symbols at Agrakhali Government Primary School polling station. After 10 days of the election, Lutfar Kazi Gangra, a supporter of the scissors symbol, had a discussion with Asadul Haque Asha, a supporter of the boat symbol, in the Akandapara area on Tuesday afternoon.

Because of this, Lutfar Kazi Gongra, a supporter of Kenchi Prateek, announced a clash between the two areas by miking in the evening.

Later this morning, thousands of people from the two areas prepared for a clash with sticks and native weapons.

Suman Talukder, officer-in-charge of Islampur Police Station, said that the people of the two areas were preparing for this clash due to the earlier enmity between them. After receiving the information, the situation was brought under control. Additional police have been deployed in the two areas.
