Manikganj Correspondent: A ferry named Rajnigandha with passengers and vehicles has sunk due to the impact of the bulkhead at Paturia Ghat in Manikganj.
On Wednesday (January 17), around 8:30 a.m., the ferry began to sink slowly in the Padma. Locals said that passengers on the ferry could be heard screaming.
Six people were rescued alive after the accident. Many of the passengers on the ferry are still missing. Efforts are underway to rescue them.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Aricha Regional Office Deputy General Manager Shah Md. Khaled Nawaz confirmed the truth of this information.
He said that a ferry called Rajnigandha sank near ghat number 5 after colliding with the bulkhead.
He said that the accident happened due to thick fog.
