Dhaka Bureau: An IndiGo Airlines flight from Mumbai to Guwahati in India made an emergency landing at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport due to low visibility due to severe cold and thick fog. After reaching Guwahati airport, it was diverted again towards Bangladesh due to fog.
The incident took place on Saturday (January 13) around 4 a.m. Indian time.
The IndiGo authorities said in a statement that this happened due to adverse weather conditions. It said that IndiGo flight 6E5319 from Mumbai to Guwahati was diverted to Dhaka due to adverse weather conditions.
Suraj Singh Tagore, former president of the Mumbai Youth Congress, wrote, I was going to Guwahati from Mumbai. The flight could not land in Guwahati due to dense fog. Now all passengers are staying in Bangladesh without a passport. We are sitting inside the plane.
It may be noted that according to flight tracking website FlightRadar24, the flight was scheduled to depart at 8:20 PM on Friday and reach Guwahati at 11:10 PM. However, the flight left Mumbai for Guwahati three hours late, at around 11:20 PM. After 12 hours, it reached the destination.
