Patia Correspondent: Two police officers of Chittagong’s Patia police station have been recalled for allegedly working for an independent candidate. They have been withdrawn in view of the written complaint of Motaherul Islam Chowdhury, the candidate for the boat symbol of Chittagong-12 constituency, to the Chief Election Commissioner on December 29.
On Monday (January 1), they were withdrawn and joined the police line. Earlier, Patia Police Station OC Nezam Uddin was recalled on the same charge.
The withdrawn officers are SI Sanjay Ghosh and ASI Md. Ziaul Haque Zia.
It is said in the written complaint, OC (investigation), of Patia Police Station. Solaiman, SI Sanjay Ghosh, Md. Asadur Rahman, Ratan Kanti Dey, Akram Hossain Sumon, Shimul Chandra Das, Zia Uddin, ASI Md. Faiz Ahmad, and ASI Anup Kuman work for independent candidate Samshul Haque Chowdhury.
It is alleged that they harassed and intimidated local Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League activists, and public representatives from house to house in various ways.
Chairman of the Boat Election Management Committee, AKM Shamsuzzaman Chowdhury, said that due to harassment of party leaders and workers with false cases, the candidate of the Boat symbol, Motaherul Islam Chowdhury himself, filed a written complaint against eight people, including OC (investigation).
OC of Patia Police Station. Jasim Uddin said that SI and ASI have been withdrawn in view of the complaint.
