Entertainment Desk: After many ups and downs, ‘Santao’ was released in only 5 theaters in the country, including Dhaka, on January 27 at the beginning of the year. Hall owners did not want to play the movie in the theaters of the country as it did not have a star artist. Young filmmaker Khandkar Suman produced the movie in the regional language of Rangpur with crowd funding. This movie is being screened in 63 districts of the country.

Producer Khandkar Sumon said that on December 31, the last day of the year, the film “Santao” will be screened in 63 districts of the country, organized by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The movie will be seen on the big screen at 4 p.m. in collaboration with the District Art Academy.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy’s ‘Ganajagarne Film Festival’ is being held across the country from December 29 to January 5, with 17 films from the country. As a part of that, ‘Santao’ is going to be shown on the last day of the year.

In this context, Khandkar Sumon said, ’63 districts showing a film simultaneously on the big screen is undoubtedly a matter of surprise. International film festivals do not have so many screenings at the same time. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky Bhai have always been associated with healthy films, so such an exhibition is destined for a crowd-funded film.

The crowd-funded film ‘Santao’ was recently released on Amazon Prime Video, the world’s second-largest OTT platform. The film can be seen only in America and England. If you want to watch from Bangladesh, you have to watch from the Bioscope app.

‘Santao’ was awarded the FIPRICE Best Film Award in the Bangladesh Panorama category at the 21st Dhaka International Film Festival. The film was released in theaters on January 27. Since last March, the movie has been shown alternately in different districts of the country.

‘Santao’ presents the struggling life of a farmer, the universal form of women’s motherhood, and the joys and sorrows of a harmonious community. Ainun Putul and Fazlul Haque played the lead roles.
