Sitakunda Correspondent: A man was shot and hacked to death in Sitakunda. At this time, the miscreants cut off his right hand from his body. The name of the deceased is Noor Mustafa alias Bajal (50). This incident took place in Moulvhipara, West Lalanagar village, Baraiardhala upazila, on Sunday evening.
Noor Mustafa is the village chief. He is not involved in politics. Initially, the police came to know that this incident took place after preventing an identified robber from entering the area.
Didarul Islam, a relative of deceased Nur Mostafa, told the media that a man named Touhidul Islam had been absconding for a long time due to fear of police arrest. He has multiple cases of robbery and banditry. Recently, he tried to enter the area. But the police got the information and started an operation to catch him. Touhidul Sardar has been accusing Noor Mustafa of this.
Didarul Islam also said that around 6 p.m., Touhidul came in front of the new Pukurpara shop in Maulvipara with a group of 10–15 people. Nur Mustafa was already there. At that time, Nur Mustafa had a discussion with Tauhidul. At one point, Noor Mustafa was shot in the chest and stomach. His right hand was cut off with a knife. On receiving the news, the local people rescued Nur Mustafa and took him to the Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty there declared him dead.
Upazila Health Officer Nur Uddin told the media that the right hand of Nur Mustafa, who was killed by a sharp weapon, was amputated. Two bullet marks were found on his chest and abdomen. He died of excessive bleeding.
Officer-in-charge of Sitakunda police station Kamal Uddin told the media that Tauhidul is a known robber. An operation is underway to arrest him. He committed this murder because the police came to know about his arrival in the area and became angry.
