Rangunia representative: Awami League-nominated candidate and Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud.
He started campaigning from Rangunia in Chittagong on Monday (December 18) afternoon.
The information minister said in the road meeting that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman campaigned on a bicycle in 1954. Since then, our party symbol has been the boat.
He said Bangabandhu used to campaign by boat and bicycle. You have seen it in the movie ‘Bangabandhu’. Remembering that memory of Bangabandhu, today I crossed the Karnaphuli river by boat and started the election campaign by cycling from the party office.
Hasan Mahmud said that today there is a lot of enthusiasm among the people about the election. Those who conspired with the BNP at home and abroad about the election have been silenced like balloons. Now, even with strong vitamin tablets, BNP is not able to stand up. InshaAllah, the election will be held on January 7 with great enthusiasm. Like all over the country, we will all go to the polling stations with millions of people to vote.
“Those who conspired about the election have now entered the hole, and BNP’s Rizvi Ahmed has also entered the hole,” the minister said. The people have chased BNP; they have entered the pit after eating the run of the people. And Rizvi Ahmed now looked from inside the hole with wide eyes and announced the program.
Hasan Mahmud said BNP’s program is to burn cars and horses. It cannot be the program of any political party. We ostracize those who burn carriages and horses, and the people also ostracize them. So they have no place in the soil of Rangunia.
He said that many conspiracies were made so that this election was not held. BNP-Jamaat thought that we could not hold elections. Now they have realized, overcoming all odds, that elections are going to be held in the country with the massive enthusiasm of a participatory people. As every time you went to the polling station to vote, this time also with double enthusiasm, I humbly request that you go to the polling station with your mother and sisters and vote for the boat brand.
Addressing the people of the constituency, he said, I contested as an Awami League candidate every time, but after being elected, I tried to work as an MP for people of all walks of life. I have not let anyone down who has come to me. For the past 15 years, my door has been open to all people. Now that I have appeared at your door, my humble request to you is that you please open your door for me.
He said that under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu, there has been incredible development in the country today. Our Rangunia Upazila and Boalkhali parts have developed more than many upazilas in the country. You could not have voted for me if Sheikh Hasina had not nominated me. You elected me; he gave me the responsibility of minister. Being in that position has made it possible for me to develop here; otherwise, it would not have been possible to develop so much. I tried to repay your love.
On this day, the Information Minister cycled from in front of the Upazila Awami League office at Ichakhali in Rangunia and went to Maryamnagar Choumuhani along the Chittagong-Kaptai road. Before this, he visited Satyapir’s shrine on the top of the hill and the graves of his parents, including his parents.
At that time, chairman of the election management committee and upazila chairman Swajan Kumar Talukdar, Uttar district Awami League leader Abul Kashem Chishti, Md. Shahjahan Sikder, Kamrul Islam Chowdhury, Nazrul Islam Talukder, Muhammad Ali Shah, Iftekhar Hossain Babul, Aktar Hossain Khan, Secretary of Election Management Committee Engineer Shamsul Alam Talukder, Gias Uddin Khan Swapan, and others were present.
