Gazipur Correspondent: The police arrested a prison guard of the High Security Central Jail with four pots of ganja while entering the Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur. The name of the arrested person is Sohail Rana. He is the son of Hikmat Ali of Bara Gobindpur (Bilbaria) village of Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur. He was arrested around 11pm on Monday. Later, the prison authorities searched the prison guards’ barracks in the prison complex and recovered about one kg of ganja from the trunk of the arrested prison guard.
On Tuesday (December 12), Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Konabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ziaul Islam confirmed the matter and said that prison guard Sohel Rana was entering the Kashimpur High Security Central Jail on Monday (December 11) night. At that time, other prison guards on duty searched Karaft and arrested him with four pots of ganja.
The jail authorities then searched his barracks in the jail complex. There, about one kg of ganja was recovered from the trunk used by Sohail Rana. The police went to the spot after receiving information from the prison authorities at midnight that day. Later, the prison authorities handed over the detained prison guard (No-14335) Sohel Rana to the police along with 940 grams of ganja. A case has been filed in the police station. He was sent to court on Tuesday.
Senior Jail Superintendent Subrata Kumar Bala of Kashimpur High Security Central Jail said that action has been taken against jail guard Sohel Rana, who was arrested with marijuana, as per jail rules. He has already been suspended.
It is to be noted that during the entry of the prison on September 2, the prison guards searched a garbage-carrying truck of Gazipur City Corporation and recovered indigenous weapons and cannabis. In this incident, the driver of the car and a cleaner were arrested and handed over to the police.
